“Crash”

Crash was one of the most interesting and breathtaking movies I have ever seen. The really change in point of views then how things moved along really caught my attention. The biggest thing I like about the movie was the way the timeline worked itself out and had flashbacks here and there, it really pulled everything together. I believe that this movie deserve 9 out of 10 stars because it was just pure ingenious.

The message about the film wasn’t something I really picked up on. There were other things I was looking at, like the acting and the way some shots were filmed. But if I were to pick a message, it would be to never be afraid. As the father was with his daughter when she jumped into his arms when the Persian man shot at him, the daughter was unafraid, believing in the cloak that her father had given her. But also when the women who was sexually assaulted by the police officer then was later stuck under the car, she had to believe he’d do right and get her out. To be unafraid, they were quickly helped and I think that was the message.

Like I said before the acting was probably one of the biggest things I looked at. It was believable. You could really connect with the way the characters were played. It made it to be a wonderful film.

“Pan’s Labyrinth”

The element of just the film itself doesn’t just make it a Spanish foreign film. Any film no matter what language is a film, which draws the people in, no matter where they are from. The universal part to this movie was that people could understand no matter the language and they were able to connect and work within the film and story line itself. The only foreign part about it is the language. Everything else is universal, from the theme to the stories within the story itself.

“Avatar”

Avatar was a movie to truly end all movies. The film itself was so beautifully made and so well written that it purely deserved a rating of 10 out of 10 stars. There is no way to really explain why it deserved it. The acting was superb, the setting was beautiful, the theme and plot created was spot on, the whole story line wasn’t rushed, it flowed perfectly and didn’t make you want to skip forward. It always kept you on your toes.

This film was definitely not made for just the enjoyment. I believe the director was trying to show a message about the world. If you look around at the world today we are hit with global warming and war, inequalities and hatred. In the movie, there wasn’t a problem like that; none of those problems were broken into the world of Pandora until the humans came. I think the message had to do with something about how we are willing to come and take, take, take, then destroy beautiful, living things like habitats and animals then the world itself. I believe this because this was so heavily introduced and kept throughout the film that it made the viewers really think about it, even if it wasn’t on their minds right away.

“The Elevator”

This was an interesting short film. I wasn’t really sure what to think about it in the beginning but it just was very clear as to the message. The man was seemingly normal until he because paranoid because of the amount of people coming into the elevator as those who are overweight. Overall the plot was simple and was generally funny.

I would give it probably a 3 out of 5 stars.

“Full Circle” Review

“Full Circle” was a very nice, simple pay back film. It really went back and forth with the camera angles, showing things that would have happened, but you didn’t see them. It was the trick to the eye. The subtle hints of things that happened then the reveal in the end. The camera angles really made the film more secretive, sneaky. It’s an interesting trick to the whole “what comes around, goes around” theme.

“Signs”

This was a very interesting and light-hearted film. I thought it was interesting with the short plot but it had such deep meaning. The light and gentle music also was a winner, because it just showed the emotions of the male character. It really portrayed a simple and gentle romantic film.

“Symmetry” – Review

I think I would have to rate this as 3 out of 4 stars. I think that it was enlightening, to see the symmetry within everyday life. It had a deeper meaning within the pictures it showed.  I liked it enough, but I don’t think I could apply it to everything or anything I do, but it was very interesting in the moment.

Movie I don’t want to ever see again!

The Twilight Saga is something I never want to see again. I read all the books and they didn’t appeal to me either, especially after watching the movies. I think the portrayal of Bella Swan in general was very poor and Kristen Stewart was a pretty bad choice in her spot. But that was like every other character that was portrayed. I didn’t like the plot, it was dragged out and it made me feel kind of sick. The biggest thing I didn’t like was the imprinting. Now, if I had anything, I think I cried internally at how revolting that was in a whole.

I watched all of the movies, at least once, just to see them and compare mentally how many differences there were. In the end, I couldn’t even like the books or the movies because it made me feel pretty stupid.

My Favorite Movie – “The Conjuring”

Diabolical forces are formidable. These forces are eternal, and they exist today. The fairy tale is true. The devil exists. God exists. And for us, as people, our very destiny hinges upon which one we elect to follow. [Ed Warren]

Also known as, The Warren Files, this movie must be one of my favorites of 2013. I can’t really pick which are my true favorites because I have too many and I have watched too many. Honestly, I love the horror, paranormal sense to this, especially because it’s based on a true story. To have all of this based on the Warren’s story was pretty spectacular. I love the Warren’s and their work, and I think Lorraine Warren was very well portrayed by Vera Farmiga.

Movie Watching Habits

I watch movies more at home, on Netflix, than I do at the theaters. Seriously, I have to watch at least one movie every day. I like to watch mostly horror and sci-fi movies. No matter how scared I might get because of the the jump scares, I always watch them.

Some of my personal favorites as of currently must for the Paranormal Activity trilogy, The Conjuring, and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.

In the short tribute we saw, I noticed the movies, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, Rocky, Charlie Chaplin, The Exorcist, Star Wars, The Godfather, and a few more that I don’t know the name of.
